Update Log
New features and important improvements to Charm Lab Studios.
- Build plates in Live Preview: Show a printer build plate for a size reference. Choose your printer once and use the same selection across creations in this browser. Check the print layout in your slicer.
- More space in your preview: Click outside More views or Inspect to close the panel. Your printer choice stays saved.
- Sticky note contour offset: Add an optional 0–30 mm margin around the artwork-shaped body. The artwork, pocket, enclosed holes and saved choices stay unchanged.
- PocketBac holder shapes: Choose artwork shape, circle, square or rectangle, or a contour offset. Adjust the holder shape and review orange highlights.
- Simpler Soap holder controls: Use Basic or Advanced controls. Orange warnings show where material is missing above a shorter Bottle Offset.
- Custom fonts for name keychains: Upload a TTF or OTF font for a name keychain. The font stays in your browser. Saved projects keep the letter outlines; upload the font again to edit the text.
- Bead Beta: Turn connected SVG or PNG artwork into a bead with a straight cord hole. Choose 5 mm, 4 mm or a custom cord size, direction, position and clearance. The hole keeps its size when you resize the artwork. Review thin areas and apply thickness changes explicitly. Print a sample with your cord; previews do not prove fit or strength.
- AI support improvements: Share an image only with your consent, tell us if a reply helped, and help us identify recurring support problems.
- Keychain controls and artwork views: Adjust Keychain size and attachment in clear cards. Top and Front views show artwork upright across more creations.
- Sticky note holder controls: Choose a pocket position and border. Center fits the artwork around the pocket; choose which edge has a thumb cutout.
- Paperclip direction: Choose End on left or End on right in Customize without mirroring your artwork or changing its size. Saved projects and print kits keep your choice.
- Soap holder Beta: Make a holder for Foam Soap or Hand Soap. Adjust the bottle surround and drainage, and print the artwork separately. Papel Picado is no longer marked Beta.
- More useful AI troubleshooting: AI support can use shared color counts, recent steps and error details to give more relevant help. Artwork files are not sent automatically.
- Support tickets from chat: Review and edit a support summary from chat. Drafts stay in the same tab for up to 24 hours. Copy the message or email charmlabsupport@proton.me for help.
- Consistent settings panels: Settings panels use the same desktop width across creations and editing steps. Expanded View gives controls more room, and phone layouts still fit the screen.
- Grouped print reviews: Use Review areas to see checks grouped by task. Open the relevant controls with Adjust. The editor and Download step use matching groups.
- Clearer download reviews: Review areas shows required checks. Cancel keeps them active, and hiding a note does not clear them. After you choose Download, acknowledging the last required area starts your download.
- Candle color download repair: Some Candle holder designs that stopped during color export can now download their print kit.
- Your design stays the same: The repair preserves the Candle dimensions, mounting sockets and STL files.
- Colors for your slicer: The kit keeps aligned color parts for filament assignment. Review your printer settings and sliced layers before printing.
- Help for your current design: The assistant can use your current settings and print checks to explain what needs review. It does not receive your artwork or filename.
- Useful next steps: Open the relevant controls from chat. PocketBac help remembers when Auto fit leaves areas to review and explains the download confirmation.
- Clearer chat status: See when a reply is being prepared. A compact status line shows design sharing; you can turn sharing off in the chat menu.
- PocketBac controls and clearer print checks: Choose loop shape, depth and hole size in Basic. Find Keychain Attachment just below Holder size, with more space for adjustments. Print checks start compact. Use Review areas to see each adjustment, or Hide areas to return to the summary. Dismiss all stays inside the open panel and keeps its confirmation.
- Five clear steps and artwork actions: Choose a type, upload artwork, customize, choose its appearance, then download. Jump to any step, or use Back and Next. In Upload artwork, use Edit current artwork for background and cleanup, or Upload different artwork to replace the image.
- More room for your preview: Find feature tutorials by their thumbnails. Wide previews show X-ray and Banana for scale directly. Expanded view keeps settings on the right, and phone labels stay compact. Editor resizing now avoids a browser layout error.
- Maker membership: Maker costs $5 per month and includes 100 print-kit exports per paid billing month. Unused exports do not roll over. Existing Founding Members keep their unlimited downloads. Compare Maker, existing Founding Member, and Studio + Patreon allowances on the pricing page, including PNG conversion and premium tools.
- Artwork and earring repairs: PNG and SVG uploads can recover some browser file-read failures. If access stays unavailable, a message explains how to save and select a local copy. Earring designs affected by a color export error can now download. Earring dimensions, attachment holes and STL files stay unchanged.
- Payments and cancellation feedback: Maker and download-credit buttons open Stripe directly after sign-in. After payment confirmation, you return to the editor automatically. Stripe membership cancellation now asks for feedback. Founding Members keep access until their paid period ends.
- More compact 3D preview loading: Completed models use a compact transfer to the preview. If WebAssembly is unavailable, a message explains how to save your work and continue in a supported browser.
- PNG connection recovery: If a connection drops during conversion, Charm Lab checks the existing result without uploading your image again.
- Clearer conversion and preview reports: Conversion failures can return their original guidance after a connection drop. More detailed preview reports help us investigate slow keychain preparation.
- Tray download repair: Some Stacked trays that stopped during color export can now download. The repair keeps the tray dimensions and STL files unchanged.
- More Founding memberships: Founding Member enrollment allows up to 150 paid memberships at $5 per month with the same current benefits. Availability is confirmed at checkout. Canceled or refunded paid spots do not reopen. Access continues through the paid period unless another restriction applies.
- Studio + Patreon in Account: The Studio card in Account now matches our Studio + Patreon pricing offer. Join on Patreon opens Patreon checkout. Connect Patreon in the same account pop-up to unlock your member access.
- Feature tutorial videos: Watch a matching tutorial above the creation controls. Larger thumbnails show the video title and a tutorial icon. Your design stays open while you watch.
- General tutorials first: Find Introduction to Charm Lab in Tutorials → Videos, below the playlist links. General tutorials appears before the Latest Video section.
- Easier artwork uploads: Use Upload your artwork in Artwork or beside the sample preview. One button accepts SVG or PNG and opens the right preparation flow.
- PocketBac bottle positioning: Move the bottle up or down. New designs keep a 5 mm entry inset, and Rounded U openings can follow the bottle with a linked end gap. Manual adjustments and resets remain available.
- Grooved surface defaults: New designs and uploads start with Grooved surface features at 1 mm. Saved settings remain unchanged.
- Updated help in English and Spanish: Chatbot guidance explains the upload and PocketBac controls. Spanish labels now include vertical positioning, spacing and preview editing help.
- Less preview processing: Artwork cleanup skips distant edges during PocketBac preview preparation. Geometry checks stay the same.
- Faster artwork replacement: Replacing artwork cancels the old preview calculation so the new artwork can start.
- Clearer timeout reports: Preview timeout reports now identify the processing step and whether Auto fit was running. This helps us investigate recurring delays.
- Spanish language support: Use the globe beside Account to choose English or Spanish. We remember your choice. Without a saved choice, the site follows your browser language.
- More reliable downloads and recovery: More detailed artwork can now download without losing outlines. Single-color kits avoid a color-mesh error. The editor can recover once from certain display errors while keeping your settings. Earlier phone-stand and preview-startup fixes remain available.
- Updates when a download is fixed: Eligible signed-in users can receive a notice after a download fix is verified. Find it later in Account → Notifications, or report that it still does not work.
- Studio + Patreon: Join La Conchita Bonita on Patreon for $10 per month. Get Charm Lab member access plus the Patreon STL file library. Connect Patreon after joining to unlock your access.
- Simpler controls and fit checks: PocketBac Basic offers visual adjustments, with Advanced controls and Undo still available. PocketBac and paperclip checks share compact panels. Review or dismiss design warnings in Download; dismissal can affect the final print.
- Clearer SVG previews and backing colors: Checkerboards show empty space. Backing-color controls appear when artwork has transparent areas. A warning appears when details may blend into the backing. Choose a contrasting color and see the preview update. Color SVG and 3MF files keep your choice. Supported SVGs retain thin source details.
- More SVG files accepted: Unused pattern definitions can now be removed during preparation without changing your artwork.
- Better stylesheet support: SVGs with ordinary stylesheet identifiers now open through the existing color and style preparation.
- Simpler SVG help: Upload warnings link to a guide with three recovery options, including PNG export and Plain SVG steps.
- Face editing stays in Appearance: Select surface features only in Appearance with Stacked or Grooved. Other tabs and Flat keep the model free of selection highlights.
- PocketBac chain-hole checks: Valid chain holes that exit along a curved artwork edge no longer trigger a false two-exit warning.
- PocketBac preview and presets: Views and adjustments reuse more preview work. Vanilla is now marked Coming Soon; U + chain remains available.
- PocketBac holders: Use your artwork to make a holder for a reference 30 ml bottle. Start with U + chain or Vanilla. Curved is marked Coming Soon.
- PocketBac fit controls: Auto-fit starts at 64 mm wide and tries larger sizes when needed. Adjust bottle space, openings and chain attachments in grouped controls.
- Clearer model warnings: Read what needs attention and open the matching controls. Auto-Fix shows why a fix is unavailable. Blocked-download warnings stay open for recovery.
- More reliable previews: Clicker previews do less work during loading and adjustments. Creation changes cancel old preview work. SVG changes show loading immediately. Retry keeps your artwork and settings.
- Clearer uploads: Image uploads show the 5 MB limit and resizing steps. Conversion results are checked against the editor’s SVG limits.
- Better error reporting: Page-rendering fixes and improved reporting help us identify errors and track recovery.
- Videos first: Tutorials now opens the Videos tab by default, with Articles still available.
- Tutorial playlist: Open the Charm Lab Tutorials YouTube playlist for step-by-step walkthroughs.
- Update playlist: Open the Charm Lab Updates YouTube playlist to catch up on what’s new. Both playlists open in a new tab.
- Updates and videos: Follow important changes in the Update Log and watch the latest featured update or tutorial from the design workspace.
- Belt charms: Create charms with a separate belt-hugging wedge or a concealed tunnel. Adjust belt size, thickness and attachment fit.
- Simpler design workspace: Move between Artwork, Appearance, Size & fit, and Download. Save favorite creations for easy access.
- Artwork and print planning: Replace SVG colors, adjust the maximum color count, and preview approximate filament needs and printing time before downloading.
- Clearer pricing: Compare download packs and memberships, and connect an eligible Patreon membership more easily.
- Improved reliability: Retry interrupted previews and download Clicker designs affected by a geometry issue.
